I grew up in a Christian family but never considered myself a Christian in my growing up years. Back then, I believed that men created God for their selfish purposes and religion was just another way to control people.
As an adult, I struggled with finding my life purpose, negativity and low self-esteem. I was impersonal and detached in my relationships with people. I was also averse to commitment in relationships and was just living for myself.
I discovered the Alpha course when my colleagues invited me to church. At that point of my life, I was searching if there was a greater purpose to the life that I was living. Alpha gave me an avenue to ask questions about my existence and purpose in an open, relaxed and engaging environment. It also allowed me to ask the tough questions about Christianity and provided answers that I sought for, helped me to rediscover Jesus and my life purpose.
After knowing God, I was able to rely more on God to overcome my negative habits and self-esteem issues. I saw the positive change that I craved for: I was able to overcome avoidance of commitment in my daily relationships. In addition, I became less frustrated about my flaws and failures in life. Instead, I felt more at peace with myself and more excited about my life ahead. I also have the desire to be more relational with the people around me and my relationships with them have improved. God really changed me from the inside out and I now live with a heart of gratitude.
